Authors are individuals that write or create objects. Generally speaking, an author is someone who creates written works. The word author is derived from the 14th c. Old French word autor meaning father and the Latin auctorem meaning founder or one who causes to grow. By 1380 the word became augere which came to refer to one who sets forth written statements.
