Bull's Noon is another word for midnight, once common in East Anglia. It is said to relate to the silence of the dead of the night being broken by the loud bellowing of the bull, who awakens from his evening sleep as if it were noon and blores with rage when he reaches a fence he cannot break through. It might also relate to the black bull as a manifestation of the Devil, who is traditionally associated with Midnight and the colour black; one of his traditional appellations being "Lord of the Herd".
