Candle

(Redirected from Candles)
The Candle was not always made of wax and was more commonly made of tallow (a byproduct of beef fat rendering) or animal fat. Later, beeswax was utilized.
The word candle comes from the Old English candel, itself deriving from the Latin candela, meaning a "light" or "torch". This in turn originates from the Proto Indo-European *kand, meaning "to glow, shine and shoot out light".
