Carrowkeel is located near Castlebaldwin in Co. Sligo, Ireland and consists of fourteen megalithic passage cairns. Each cairn is represented on a map by a alphabetic letters. The cairns were built sometime between 3,000 to 2,000 B.C. and remained in use until approximately 1,500 B.C. The stones that were used to build the cairns were limestone. Cairn E is notable as it comprises what appears to be both a passage cairn and a court tomb.

There is also a prehistoric village below the cairns where the small circular stone structures can still be seen where the Neolithic huts stood that made up what is now called Doonaveeragh village. The area is aligned with other sites such as those at Croagh Patrick, Kesh Corran, and Moytura near Loch Arrow.

In more recently times, the area was used as a burial for unbaptized children. Unfortunately, many people continue to access the cairns and leave candle tins, wax drippings, rotting food, and other items that are destroying the cairns.
