Cauldron or caldron (from Latin caldarium, hot bath) is a large metal pot (kettle), mostly made of iron and it is used for cooking and/or boiling over an open fire, sometimes attached to a hanger with the shape of an arc, and may also be hung from a tripod.

In some modern traditions, the cauldron is represented as the earth goddess's womb in ritual, this being considered as the all giving and taking life force of nature, paired with the ritual knife as the representative of a horned lord, who is considered by some as the impregnating force within nature.
