Ghost

(Redirected from Ghosts)
In popular culture a 'ghost is merely the spirit of a deceased mortal, especially when seen, but it is actually much more than this. The word ghost comes from the Old English gast, meaning "soul", "spirit", "life" or "breath"; most Indo-European words for soul and spirit" also double as references to supernatural spirits. An Old Norse name for a ghost is a Hedge Rider, a term also used for witches; indeed there is much in the way of folklore & etymology to suggest ghosts, or more correctly shades, & witches had much traffic with one another.
