Incantations

(Redirected from Incantation)
An incantation is a formula of words spoken in order to achieve a certain end, normally of a magical nature, such as to summon a spirit, conjure a shade, cast a spell, empower a charm or similar. They are often used in accompaniment, or as a compliment to, various physical actions.
The word derives from the Latin incantare, meaning "to chant (a magical spell) upon", being a composite of in-, which means "into" or "upon", and cantare, which means "to sing".
