Knots In Folk Magic
Knots are often found in acts of witchcraft where the operator wishes to tie in their desire, such as is found in Witch's Ladders and the old charm whereby winds were tied into cords & rags for use at sea.
Knots are also used in ligatures & in acts of malevolent magic where the witch wishes to block something. One example of this is a charm whereby a knot is tied in a cord so as to cause a man to become infertile. In these instances it can be seen that the knot is akin to a blockage in the otherwise straight & lineal cord.
