Mound Sitting

Mound sitting is a ritual of "sitting out" at night on a burial mound or at a crossroads to watch ghosts, elves, or other spirits. In some traditions, for example Icelandic, the spirits would offer treasure. If the sitter ignored them, and they would leave the treasure. If the sitter addressed them, they would flee.
