Right
From Traditional Witchcraft Wiki Project
Right is a relative term, depending upon which direction you are facing, and is in direct opposition to the left, thereby forming a dichotomy, represented as twin powers in some traditions of witchcraft. However, besides its directional attributes, it has certain other meanings related to a sense of properness and correctness (as in that is right).
The word right derives from the Old English riht, which originally meant "good", "proper", "fitting" and "straight", and only later obtained the sense of being the opposite of left. The Germanic recht likewise came from the Old High German reht, meaning "straight and just". In this we can see that right has a sense of straightness about it, which is opposed the derivation of left from the root word for crooked, twisted and illict. The Latin for right is dexter, meaninging skillful, strong and clever, and gives us the word dextrous.
