Spittle

Spittle is an old English word for saliva. It can be used to bless, curse, heal, avert the evil eye or even for protection. In folk magic, fasting spittle is considered to be the most potent, and its virtue is increased when the spittle is applied by a certain finger, normally the ring or leech finger. Fasting spittle is saliva used before any food is taken, preferably in the morning after awaking.
