Thread & The Fates

Thread was sacred to the Fates, for the weaving of the thread of life. Generally speaking, one Fate spins the thread, another measures it and a third cuts it with the shears; this denotes rulership over birth, life & death.

Thread In Magic

Thread is used in many different ways in the witch arts; some based upon the notion of altering one's thread of fate, and thereby altering the pattern of their life's tapestry.

A common method is the tying of a number of knots into a thread, thereby binding power & desire within. Some call such a construct a witch ladder, although technically are somewhat different in construction.

In folk magic, if one finds a piece of thread upon themselves, it is a sign of a message from the Fates, which can be revealed by spinning the thread above the ground three times and then letting the thread drop to the ground, thereby making the shape or symbol of the message.
